Over 160,000 Simply Left The "Truth" Last Year
by minimus inthat was the comment that a former elder made at the local meeting today in his comment.
evidently, he and his wife heard a bethel speaker's comment during his talk say that (i believe the figure was) 167,000 people did not get disfellowshipped but simply left.
the ex-elder made it a point to say that the elders should be watching to help out the flock before they up and leave.

Home from Circuit Assembly
by RichieRich inas some of you knew, my circuit assembly was this weekend (dec 24 and 25).
the theme was "clothe yourselves with the new personality".
i guess the society has to reinforce the idea of humility, because apparently, you can't mislead haughty people.. from the sound of the accounts report, people are voting with their wallets.. nothing particularly egregrious was said.. luckily my mother had a fever this morning, so we got to leave at lunch.

Hey Richie, don't you just love leaving the assembly early, avoiding all the commuting JW's, waiting patiently for your turn to leave the parking lot when all you really want to do is stand on the throttle? LOL. Glad to hear your day wasn't a total loss. Sorry to hear you'r mom is not feeling well. Tell her Darth Yhwh wishes her well! LOL
Jgnat, I've never heard of JW's having to do reports before. Is this something he took on his own initiative or was the an actuall assignment (type of punishment) from the local body of elders?

the individuals in the organization are not typically the biggest problem, it is the organization itself.

Yes the beast should be slain. I am so upset about the Quotes site being down that I've actually thinking about canvasing my neighborhood door to door to collect signatures and educate my neighbors regarding the dangers of the WBTS. The general public must know what goes on behind closed doors.

Did you ever preach door to door on a Christmas day?

i don't know if it's only our congregation or every congregation was the same, but no door to door was organized on christmas day.
that was the only day of the year that the jw's in our area wouldn't go pest people.. wonder why?

If the holiday fell on a Saturday or Sunday you better believe that JW's in my congregation were going out. Although I know that I went out on X-mas my most memorable holiday FS event was on Thanksgiving. I can remember being at this womans side door and the "brother" I was with was preaching to her while she stood there with kitchen gloves on holding a turkey baster. She looked so funny to me then.
Now as an adult with a family of my own and having lived the Thanksgiving experience for several years I can appreciate the patience that this woman displayed with us. If that was me and JW's showed up at my door in the middle of prepairing for a big family dinner I very well could physically throw them off my poarch under all the pressure.

Merry X-mas everyone!
Today was an unseasonably warm day here in NE Ohio. This morning I printed out a bunch of pictures of the kids that we inserted into picture frame for gifts to family members. Then I went to the grocery store and bought some walnuts for my wife to make kolachi with (she makes the best, it's to die for). That will be our X-mas morning breakfast.
It was so warm today that I fired up the motorcycle and went for a short ride around the neighborhood. I didn't want to quit riding because I was having such a good time but I had already decided that I wanted to wash the vehicles. I washed my wife's van and my Mustang before the sun went down. Had to get the salt off the cars.
Now Im starting to unwind. My wife and I just finished bathing our twins. Im sipping on a Jack and Coke and taking in the forum. Soon the kids will be in bed. My wife and I will then eat our dinner (left over burritos from last night's dinner), wrap the kid's presents and call it a night. I'm looking forward to watching the kids tear open ther presents in the morning. I'm also looking forward to digging into that kolachi.

the domain "watchtower.ca" has been transferred to wts (i assume they will have it pointing to borg.org watchtower.org asap).
my copies of the site have been destroyed, the files deleted, and my wt library cd has been destroyed, in accordance with the settlement agreement which will afford a "discontinuance" of their suit against me.
